Days after the streets of Kashmir is breathing some calm, we heard about the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s readiness to discuss autonomy for Jammu and Kashmir.
With all political parties now deciding their stand to catch maximum profit from this issue, me just as a common Indian, with limited knowledge of politics and power started wondering about all this happening around us.
When I first joined my school and began to understand the language of other people I came to know that "Bharat hamara desh hai, aur hum sab bharatwasi bhai behan hai "also "Kashmir se lekar kanya kumari tak bharat ek hai "
I also remember that, we did sing song about Kashmir and Himalayas in prayers. Later when I grew up I began to take interest in history, especially about wars and history of India and Pakistan.
Every story which indicated about the bravery of our soldier made me proud and I started to think that I would become a brave soldier like them. Perhaps every one of us has gone through this stage.
I see the families of army personals around me whose fathers were posted thousand miles away from them in some remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The mothers of them were also fathers for their children.
Later when I developed my understanding I found that the Map of India which we claim that whole Kashmir is our part is actually 1/3rd occupied by Pakistan, and still the height of optimism is that we consider the whole map of Kashmir as a part of India.
From the date I begin to understand that I am a citizen of India with right to vote, I came to know various conflicts around the world.
I have seen that how srilankan government have maintained the integrity of their nations against the LTTE, the most furious among all the militant organization.examples like this are many Russia-chechanya, China-taiwan
But I am afraid that we are lacking the willingness like them to maintain our integrity.
Why we say that "bahut kam tarakkee hui hai "despite being spending thousands of crores of money every year in Kashmir.
What development work has taken place there when it was a period of calm and peace?
I would like to suggest our leaders that before taking any decision , please ask about it to a soldier guarding the nation among the severe geogrophical\weather condition?
I am sure you will get a most correct answer from his eyes and expression
Beside this be ready to answer the widows of soldiers and orphan children who will ask you why you let their Husband/Father die?
I am not a scholar, not a politician, not a soldier, I am just a common Indian, wondering whether the generation next to me will be able to repeat the words "Kashmir se lekar kanyakumari tak bharat ek hai ".
Before ending this I would like to salute our brave soldiers, and hopes that their sacrifice would not go in vein ever!!
